On 24 April, the Intelligent New Energy Vehicle Innovation and Development Conference was held in Shengzhou, where industry experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives gathered together for on-site exchanges and interactions, and offered advice and suggestions for the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry.

At the conference, the Shengzhou Yangtze River Delta Intelligent New Energy Vehicle Innovation Centre was officially inaugurated, and an appointment ceremony for the director and members of the innovation centre's expert committee was held. ‘We will attract more high-level talents in the industry and nurture and incubate a number of innovative enterprises through the integration of industry and education.’ The person in charge of the innovation centre's expert committee introduced that the centre, jointly built by Shengzhou and Tongji University, will focus on the three major industrial fields of automobile and its parts manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and new energy, promote school-local and school-enterprise cooperation, focus on the research and development of key common technologies related to new energy automobiles, and the testing and inspection of new technologies and products, so as to help the industry's scientific and technological advancement and the development of regional innovation.

It is understood that the College of Automotive of Tongji University focuses on the development direction of the automotive industry, such as green, intelligent and safe, and has cultivated a number of scientific research results with market application value in the fields of automobile and its parts manufacturing, new energy for automobiles, and automatic driving. With the platform of this innovation centre, the college will accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into reality and cultivate new quality productivity of automobiles.

‘Shengzhou is vigorously promoting the construction of new energy equipment industry clusters, focusing on cultivating iconic industry chains such as power batteries, auto parts and high-end motors.’ The person in charge of Shengzhou Development and Reform Bureau said that at present, Shengzhou is building a new industrial platform of ‘10,000 acres and 100 billion’ for new energy equipment, and has introduced 28 landmark projects involving 32.8 billion yuan of investment and accelerated the improvement of the industrial chain around key enterprises and projects such as BYD and Haiwei Automobile.

The site also held a number of school-local co-operation projects, industrial co-operation projects focused on the signing ceremony, involving innovation and entrepreneurship bases, equipment manufacturing bases, robotics projects, youth talent training, etc., and held a symposium of academicians and experts on industrial development, intelligent new energy vehicle innovation and entrepreneurship docking, industry experts and scholars to carry out the ‘brainstorming’, to brainstorm ideas for the development of Shengzhou. Experts and scholars in the industry carried out ‘brainstorming’ and injected new vitality into the development of new energy automobile industry in Shengzhou.

The conference was hosted by Tongji University and undertaken by Shengzhou Municipal Government, College of Automotive of Tongji University and Automotive Intelligent Transportation Branch of Chinese Society of Automotive Engineering.
