The battery warranty period of new energy vehicles is basically 8 years. From 2025 to 2032, the battery warranty of nearly 20 million new energy vehicles will expire, and users will face problems such as power battery release, "different vehicle life" and high battery replacement costs, so it is urgent to solve the battery life problem.

Through technology research and development and unique power change operation, NIO is the first in the industry to establish a full life cycle battery health operation system to achieve full coverage of the three major conditions affecting battery life, including temperature, strength and frequency. Based on the operation and scheduling of big data of power batteries, it further improves the power battery life of the power change system, and achieves 80% health after 12 years of battery use. At the same time, in terms of battery research and development, NIO greatly improves the calendar life and cycle life of power batteries through intrinsic research and development of positive and negative electrode materials and electrolytes. At present, WEilai has the ability of material synthesis, cell trial production, system assembly, verification and testing of the full stack research and development, with 1,435 scientific and technological patents, including battery life related patents reached 104.

In the field of power batteries, Ningde Times has accumulated long-life core technologies such as slow attenuation, artificial SEI film and lithium replenishment. In this cooperation, NIO and Ningde Times will jointly explore the research and development of long-life batteries, jointly tackle technical problems, promote technological innovation, achieve product application, and prioritize the landing of long-life battery solutions in power replacement scenarios. Ningde Times will plan and develop a longer life battery system for NIO, which will be applied to subsequent models to further improve service life. The two sides will establish technical cooperation in the field of long-life batteries to become long-term, stable and win-win partners.
